Ki-Bon (key-bon):
14 movements; Ki-Bon literally means "the beginning". It is, in the Orient, interpreted as the beginning of human history. Therefore it is the initial pattern done by the beginner.
All hand strikes middle level target.
Left front stance, left low block
Step right front stance, right middle punch
Turn 180° to the right to right front stance, right low block
Step left front stance, left middle punch
Turn 90° to the left/front to left back stance, left inner forearm block
Step right front stance, right middle punch
Step left front stance, left high block
No step, right reverse middle punch and yell
Turn behind you 180° to the right, no step, right back stance, right inner forearm block
Step left front stance, left middle punch
Step right front stance, right high block
No step, left reverse middle punch and yell
Turn 270° to the left, sitting stance, left knife hand strike
Slide step right, sitting stance, right knife hand strike
One Step Sparring Drills
Attacker: States "ready Sir / Ma'am", steps right foot, right hand punch face high when instructed to attack.
Defender: Yells "attack" then executes techniques below aiming to within approximately 2 inches of the specific target areas. Yelling on last technique signifies defender has completed drill.
Left front kick landing in left front stance, left outer forearm block, right reverse palm heel strike at face level, left foot steps back to the right foot, right front kick and yell landing in a right front stance. To escape, slide right foot back to the left and then step left foot back to a right back stance. Keep hands up throughout.
Left outside crescent kick lands behind you, right side kick, right knife hand, left hand hop hook bringing your left foot to the front landing in a left back stance and yell. To escape, slide left foot back to the right and then step right foot back to a left back stance. Keep hands up throughout.
Step out into a left front stance to the left 45°, right inner forearm block, two right side kicks landing in a right front stance, left reverse punch and yell. To escape, slide right foot back to the left and then step left foot back to a right back stance. Keep hands up throughout.
Progress Stripes and Rank Test Requirements
Green Stripe - Awarded indicating the student can demonstrate and relate basic elements of the following to the instructor team:
Stances - Attention, Chum Be, Front Stance, Sitting Stance, and Back Stance
Blocks - High Block, Low Block, and Outer/Inner Forearm Block
Strikes - Punch, Knife-hand, Hook Punch, and Palm
Kicks - Front Kick, Side Kick, and Crescent Kick
Blue Stripe - Awarded indicating the student can demonstrate and relate all moves of the assigned form by the student's count without mistake or assistance. The student must also know the name, meaning and number of moves.
Red Stripe - Awarded indicating the student can demonstrate all assigned One Step Sparring combinations including the correct attack for each One Step. Students will only be tested for progress stripes and rank using a right hand attack even though both may be practiced in class at times.
Rank Test - Will require student to perform each of the skills for which the Blue Stripe and Red Stripe are awarded but may be asked bonus questions from the workbook or to perform other progress skills throughout his/her rank. Each student must have fifteen (15) class credits prior to the end of the testing cycle.
